As part of SkillsFuture Festival 2025 and the NTUC Workplace Connect Series, a workshop on Job Transformation for the Retail and Food Services sectors was jointly conducted with the NTUC Hospitality & Consumer Business Cluster.
The session brought together industry practitioners to explore how job redesign and workplace learning can be strategically applied to support business transformation and workforce sustainability. Led alongside Dr Tommie Chen, participants were guided through practical approaches to rethinking roles, skills, and work design in response to evolving industry demands.
Key areas covered during the workshop included:
-
Real-world job redesign case studies, illustrating how organisations can improve people outcomes, operational processes, and business performance
-
Integrating workplace learning into job redesign, from learning in the flow of work to blended digital learning approaches
-
Change and implementation frameworks, including ADKAR and IAL’s DOCIE framework (Diagnosis & Outcome, Co-Creation, Implementation and Evaluation), to support sustainable transformation
-
Enterprise insights from organisations that have strengthened productivity, employee engagement, and innovation through job redesign initiatives
The session also featured an industry sharing by Ms Shu Min Ang, who presented the transformation journey at Lim Kee Food Manufacturing, offering participants practical perspectives from an enterprise standpoint.
The workshop was co-organised with Ms Cheryl Chan from NTUC, with support from colleagues across both organisations. Contributions from facilitators and on-site support teams helped ensure a meaningful and engaging learning experience for participants.
The session concluded with a call for organisations to continue advancing job redesign efforts, empowering people, strengthening capabilities, and building future-ready industries.
